It's no secret that I LOVE Venue3Two, in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Everything about this venue is absolutely gorgeous, the getting ready space is to die for and the reception area offers so much space for activities.
Since the getting ready space is so stunning, it's where we decided to photograph some of Korrin's carefully curated details as well. The rust, terracotta, champagne colors all complimenting each other perfectly.
The classic wedding day tradition of, Something Old, Something New, Something Borrowed and Something Blue comes from the Old English rhyme, "Something Olde, Something New, Something Borrowed, Something Blue, A Sixpence in your Shoe." These objects were considered necessary for couples to incorporate into their wedding dresses/attire or carry with them on their wedding day. It was believed that they would bring good and happy marriages if they did. Korrin and Jacob's wedding was unique and modern, but with hints of classic traditions such as this. Below are what Korrin had as her objects on their wedding day.
Something Borrowed + Something Old: Korrin's Grandmas necklace.
Something New: Korrin's gorgeous dress from Crystal Bride. And her lovely earrings.
Something Blue: Ribbon.
Learn more about this tradition by checking out this blog written on The Knot, here!
Some of my favorite pictures captured during the wedding day are the getting ready ones. The part of the day where you're feeling nervous and excided. The couple each getting ready and eager to see the other. Plus, the alone time you have with your favorite people that you choose to stand beside you on one of the biggest days of your lives. The stinking cute matching robes, socks, etc., don't hurt either!
The couples ceremony backdrop was the lovely mansion of Venue3Two, with a pianist adding a lovely melody as their soundtrack. They had a short and sweet ceremony officiated by none other than Jacob's Grandfather. With a special prayer by his other Grandfather! How special is that?!
Korrin and Jacob's wedding party outdid themselves, showing amazing support and hype for the two all day long. Party People (wedding party) are actually really important assets to your wedding day, more than just to party with, but also to help with roles to keep your wedding planning process and day of going as smooth as possible. These Party People made sure to do just that.
Speaking of the roles of the Wedding Party, I've actually been considering writing a blog dedicated specifically to that! Let me know if you think it would be helpful, or if you have any stories you'd like shared into the blog as examples.
When I first chatted with Korrin on the phone about her and Jacob's special day, she told me all about their love story, and of course, what she was most excited about for their wedding; To marry Jacob, and the cookie dough!
The two love to go on date nights to get cookie dough at a special place in Chicago, so to make their wedding day treats a little more unique, they decided that instead of cake, they wanted cookie dough! A wedding wouldn't be complete without a tiny little hiccup... The cookie dough and the mailing systems must have known that too! The cookie dough arrived in the mail just not quite right. So Korrin and her Aunt had to HAND MAKE and jar all the cookie dough themselves! It's almost like it was meant to be though because not only does it make for a cute story, it was also the most delicious cookie dough.
The cookie dough wasn't the only mouthwatering thing. The couple had their food catered by Donkey Taqueria and it was the most scrumptious food! Top 3 of all wedding foods I've eaten.
The reception also had outstanding music, LIVE, by Jacob's cousin, Levi Britton. I was blown away by his talent and it was the perfect vibe for the couples evening and dances.
The evening was complete with a bubbly grand exit and a private last dance with the couple. ♥
